Year of the Dragon Challenge

Year of the Dragon Challenge

A Short Introduction...

I'm Selena Inali Raynelif Drake. I'm an award-winning artist and author from Minot, ND. You can find all my novels and paintings in my shop.

About the Challenge

The Goal: Design and paint twelve dragons within twelve months.

Sounds simple enough, right?

Well, here's the thing: I have a list of names, but no details aside from a single feature that makes each dragon unique from its siblings That means I have 30 days to take the most basic of ideas, such as "outer space" or "cybernetically enhanced," and turn it into a complete piece of art on a 16 by 20 inch canvas.

While single-handedly running my metaphysical supply shop.

The Catch: I have no idea which dragon I'll be doing.

You and your fellow Challengers get to vote on which dragon I will be painting next. That means, no concepts drawn out in advance. No backgrounds painted. No work done at all until the votes are in and tallied. And the next round of voting doesn't start until three days before the First of each new month.

Why Dragons?

Dragons are my favorite animal. They are beautiful creatures that are powerful and wise. There come in so many styles and with so many features that no two dragons are alike.

And I hadn't really painted many dragons before.
